8th-Nov-2009 11:18 pm - Hair School on West Broadway
Hello,

A while back someone recommended a hair school on West Broadway, somewhere in the area of Cambie. I took them up on their advice and had my hair cut there, but it was back in the summer and I can't recall the name of the school. It was on the south side of Broadway. Google tells me that the most likely candidate is "Ray's Beauty School", but the website for that school looks NOTHING like the website for the school where I had my hair cut six months ago. I need a trim and can't afford my regular stylist so I'd like to go to this school again.

Can anyone

a) suggest another school in the region of Broadway and Cambie

or

b) confirm that Ray's Beauty School has had a massive revamp of their website at some point in the last few months

?

Thanks!
There will be the usual weekly social boardgames group at QV's Cafe (Government @ Fisgard) from 6.30pm tomorrow evening, till 9.30-10ish. There will NOT be boardgames next week but we'll probably be back on the 23rd.

Come, bring games (or just learn the games other people bring), make friends, it's all lovely and sociable!
8th-Nov-2009 01:33 pm - Help please?
I need to find a megaphone for use as a prop. It doesn't even have to work. Does anyone know where I can get one? If you've got one and want to make an easy 20 bucks, let me know please.
8th-Nov-2009 03:34 am - Market carts
Does anybody know if stores like Canadian Tire or Home Depot sell market carts? I am looking for one, as I am moving and the area has several grocery stores that are within walking distance of each other and would like it if I could bring get groceries that I could carry in a cart rather than by lugging around several bags in my arms, especially with heavy items like milk, etc.

Also, I live in Abbotsford, so the farthest I would probably go would be Langley or Surrey to get a cart.
I just adopted a dog today and was wondering if anyone knows of a good veterinarian and dog groomer in the downtown/yaletown area, or even a short drive away. Preferably somewhere affordable and not too yuppie.... :)

thanks.
7th-Nov-2009 05:24 pm - Rainboots
It's the super rainy season in Victoria and I'm trying to find rubber boots.

Does anyone know where I can find these:
vhttp://www.rei.com/product/792447

The Tretorn Strala Rain Boots for Men?

Or any other ideas for rain boots in this city? I really want those ones cause they're lined inside with faux fur to keep your feet warm.

Thanks for your help Vic :)

7th-Nov-2009 01:26 pm - Just because we seem to like beer
There was a recent post about where to find cheap beer in the city - my friend just happened to send me this link and I think it's genius!

http://www.iamelectro.com/beersearch.html

It lists drink specials by night in Vancouver. It of course doesn't have every bar but it's pretty handy. I think it might also need to be updated a bit. Kind of cool anyway though!

For example, the Yaletown brewery has $2.99 pints if it rains before noon on Thursdays. WTF?

heyy

a very romantic question:

bed and breakfasts in victoria, or anywhere on the island. been to a good one? did it have a view? what were the highlights of the suite? etc. etc. etc.
7th-Nov-2009 12:11 pm - Missing Kitty.
Dear Victoria,

My roommate's cat has been missing since Monday, and we are starting to get worried.

He's a black long haired cat, and he has a very distinct meow.

We live in Esquimalt near the wholesale store and Old Esquimalt Road.

If any of you have seen him, please let me know at picnuts @ gmail dot com.

Thanks

Edit: He came home last night! Thanks everyone who kept an eye out!
7th-Nov-2009 12:39 am - Dentist on a Saturday?
Hi! I was wondering if there were any offices that offered emergency dentistry on Saturdays in Victoria or surrounding areas. I know this is a long shot, but it's needed.

Thanks in advance.
6th-Nov-2009 06:12 pm - mmmmmm, beer!
Probably been asked before, but where's the cheapest place to get Stella on tap?

I'm not in the mood to pay $8 for a pint but at the same time I'm not in the mood to stay at home in front of the boob tube either. I'm OH MY GOD feeling social. WHO KNEW??

Doesn't have to be in the city proper. I prefer a dive-y bar over a stuck up Yaletown bar (but in Yaletown I'll be paying $20 for a pint and the snobs will throw me out for wearing Chucks with holes in them anyways).

3....2....1.....go.
6th-Nov-2009 04:50 pm - Luigi Costume
Anybody have, or know somebody who has, a Luigi or other Super Mario character costume, perhaps lightly used this past halloween, but would now like to get rid of it possibly for a little cash? Need one for a party this Tuesday...

Thanks!
